Gen.G x ELITE Launches World’s First Esport International School

Global esports conglomerate Gen.G has partnered with Elite Education Group to launch Gen.G Elite Esports Academy, the first-ever esports-focused international school network, whose first campus will open this fall in Seoul, South Korea.

Since its inception in 1987, Elite Education Group has been a global leader in K-12 educational solutions with more than 50 Elite Prep campuses operating in 6 countries. And with Elite Open School and ESCAA (Elite Open School of Creative Arts and Athletics), the group operates online, private middle schools and high schools that are fully accredited by AdvancED and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The relatively younger but equally revolutionary Gen.G has redefined esports industry standards since 2017 with its player-centric culture, premier player development, and team management techniques.

As the world’s first esports-focused international school, Gen.G Elite Esports Academy has implemented several key features to set the foundation for student success. All classes are taught in English to prepare students to be internationally competitive players in an increasingly global industry that necessitates communication in multiple languages. The top performing students from each graduating class will be directly recruited to play professionally as a part of Gen.G’s professional esports teams. Additionally, all graduates will receive American high school diplomas, and with Elite Prep’s expertise, will be equipped with the best test preparation and college application guidance to apply to competitive colleges and universities.

In recent years, the booming esports industry has led colleges to dedicate substantial resources to creating their own esports majors, competitive esports teams, and scholarship opportunities to recruit top esports talent. Nearly 200 U.S. colleges now offer around $15 million each year in scholarships, and university teams can earn millions more in tournament prizes. Ivy League institutions are also gearing up to create their own esports league. Not only do Korea’s young esports players now have opportunities to enter professional leagues, but they are also able to leverage their esports talent and experience in their applications to top colleges in the United States.

The academy’s program consists of NCAA- and University of California-approved courses and includes in-depth exploration of the esports industry and the ecosystem developing around it. With a thorough academic background and comprehensive industry knowledge, graduates of Gen.G Elite Esports Academy will have a competitive edge as leaders in the industry and unprecedented professional opportunities in esports and beyond. Additionally, the academy’s integration with scholastic esports leagues in both the U.S. and Asia will offer students increased exposure to competitions and industry professionals.

“We are thrilled about this new partnership,” says Elite Education Group founder and CEO Jonghwan Patrick Park, “Everyone at the academy is looking forward to providing opportunities for talented high school gamers of all skill levels to earn scholarships and continue their studies at UC Irvine, Miami University, or any of the other excellent schools offering top-tier esports programs.”

Gen.G Elite Esports Academy will provide opportunities for gamers of all skill levels. Top-tier gamers will be able to hone their skills at Gen.G and work toward becoming professional esports players. Good gamers who may not yet be ready for the pros can still compete at a high level, and with the excellent academic transcript and resume they will build at Gen.G Elite Esports Academy, can be recruited to the best college teams. Student gaming enthusiasts will gain valuable extracurricular activities to include in their college applications and be able to pursue a career that they are passionate about in the ever-growing field of esports.

Gen.G Elite Esports Academy will open its first campus this fall in Seoul, South Korea and is selectively recruiting 25 students for its first class. For more information visit www.gengelite.academy.
